A few mountain biking groups are coming through Boat of Garten these days. They come in all shapes and sizes and ages. The local riders can be aged as young as 4 or 5. Really they don’t have a lot in common except for loving bikes and cakes! I’ve yet to find a mountain biker/trail rider who doesn’t have a sweet tooth. Maybe it’s the adrenaline of the ride or the sense of burning energy, but cake shops are always popular. The most popular rides are those which end in a top cake shop or have more than one cake stop along the route.
Here are Fraoch Lodge we have an almost bottomless list of cake recipes, but we don’t run a cake shop. We bake for pleasure and for the enjoyment of our guests on trips with Scot Mountain Holidays or staying here at the Lodge. We usually have a wide range available which will vary with the season depending on what we have in the garden to incorporate in the baking eg raspberries, wild strawberries, courgettes, green tomatoes, herbs …
From Spring 2026, we’ll have a menu of options available for our guests to order by piece or by tray to take out with them or take home. Come and check us out as an Aviemore area cake option in addition to comfortable and friendly accommodation. The advantage of baking ourselves is that we can also offer a far wider variety than you would ever find in the supermarket – and a much fresher and tastier flavour.
