Terms & Conditions

We work with SquareUp and Stripe to process our online transactions now so you can rest assured that your payment will be processed securely. We accept the following cards:

  1. Deposit: a non-refundable deposit of 50% of per person is required with your booking. The contract shall be formed when the company acknowledges acceptance of the customers booking form and required payment.
  2. Payment: A non-refundable deposit of 50% is payable to confirm your place on a trip with Scot Mountain Holidays. We will issue an invoice for balance of payment and send any confirmation paperwork which is required on receipt of your deposit.

The balance is due 28 days before arrival.

Scot Mountain Holidays Ltd is a company committed to customer satisfaction and consumer financial protection. We are therefore pleased to announce that, at no extra cost to you, and in accordance with the current ”The Package Travel, Package Tours Regulations ” all passengers booking with Scot Mountain Holidays Ltd are fully insured for the initial deposit, and subsequently the balance of monies paid as detailed in your booking confirmation form.

The policy will also include repatriation if required, arising from the cancellation or curtailment of your travel arrangements due to the insolvency of Scot Mountain Holidays Ltd This insurance has been arranged with Affirma a trading brand of MGA Cover Services Limited (registered address 135 High Street, Crawley, England, RH10 1DQ, company registration: 08444204 authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority registration number 678541) under a binding authority with HDI Global SE UK 10 Fenchurch Street London EC3M 3BE United Kingdom registered with the Financial Conduct Authority registration number 230072. HDI Global SE UK is a branch of HDI Global SE registered office: HD1 – Platz 1, 30659 Hanover, Germany. Authorised by BaFin, Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulation Authority.

In the unlikely event of Insolvency of Scot Mountain Holidays Ltd please follow the procedures below:

  • If the company that financially failed is a member of ABTA you should in the first instance contact ABTA: ABTA Ltd, 30 Park Street, London, SE1 9EQ. Helpline: 020 3117 0599. This line is open from 10.00-16.00 Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. https://abta.com/holiday-help-and-complaints/travel-company-failures
  • If the company that financially failed is NOT a member of ABTA please contact: Claims Department, Affirma, 152 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX Telephone: +44 (0) 20 3 540 4422 E-mail: claims@affirmainsurance.com The claims department will supply instructions to follow and the documents required to submit your claim. Please ensure you retain your booking confirmation form as evidence of cover and value. NB: If payment for your holiday was made by credit or debit card you must contact the Claims team on the contact above in the first instance for instructions.

Policy exclusions: This policy will not cover any monies paid back to you by your Travel Insurance or any losses which are recoverable under another insurance or bond. The balance of payment is due 28 days prior to the commencement of the course. Credit/debit cards accepted are: Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard, Switch,

  1. Accommodation is usually in twin rooms unless stated otherwise. If you require single occupancy of our room, we can usually accommodate your request in a standard room with shared bathroom facilities. If you require private bathroom facilities you will need to let us know when making the booking. Sole occupancy of a room with private bathroom facilities will attract a supplement of £25 per night. For trips which are not based at our own accommodation of Fraoch Lodge, please check for details.
  2. Winter Equipment: It is the client’s responsibility to ensure you have the right equipment for the course. Some hire equipment can be organised through Scot Mountain Holidays. All clients on winter courses must inform Mountain Innovations of your requirements when your balance of payment becomes due i.e. 28 days before the course begins. If Scot Mountain Holidays are not informed of your requirements in enough time to organise the correct equipment for you, you may be refused access on to the hill. All clients must inform us of boot size as well as make and model of your own boots. The safekeeping of all equipment issued for use during the activity is the customer’s responsibility. With exception of fair wear and tear, the company recerves the right to charge for equipment that has been lost of misused.
  3. Dietary requirements: You must notify us of any special dietary requirements of intense food dislikes when the balance of payment becomes due (28 days prior to the commencement of your course/holiday). The company can not be expected to cater for any special provision at short notice. 
  4. Cancellation: If you wish to cancel after your booking has been confirmed, write to us. The date of cancellation shall be the date we receive your letter. Cancellation charges: up to 28 days prior to arrival, deposit only Less that 28 days, full cost.
  5. Changes in booking: We will try to accommodate changes in bookings. If it is possible for your booking to be changed there will be an administrative charge of £15.
  6. Minors: We do not accept bookings from under 18s unaccompanied by a parent or guardian.
  7. Liability: Scot Mountain Holidays accepts no liability for the death of, or personal injury to anyone whilst undertaking any activities organised by us, nor for any loss or damage resulting therefrom unless caused by the proven negligence of the company or its servants. We do not accept loss or expense due to delays or changes in travel services, sickness, weather or any other cause outside the control of Scot Mountain Holidays.
  8. Complaints: If you have any complaints let us know as soon as possible during your holiday. We will do our very best to sort them out.
  9. Activities: Clients must recognise that mountain activities are hazardous by their nature and must accept a certain element of risk.
  10. Insurance: Clients are advised to take out insurance, which covers cancellation, activities and private property.
  11. Courses: When a guide is specified by name Scot Mountain Holidays will endeavour to supply that guide. However, if he/she is not available a fully qualified alternative will be provided.
  12. Itineraries: Clients must accept that routes mentioned on holiday itineraries are provisional. Final choice of route on the day is at the discretion of the guide provided by Scot Mountain Holidays.
  13. Photographs: From time to time photographs taken on Scot Mountain Holidays courses and holidays may appear in the Scot Mountain Holidays brochure and promotional material. If customers do not wish to be photographed please raise this with the course nstructor/holiday guide at the time.
  14. Data Protection: The personal information requested by Scot Mountain Holidays at the time of booking plus any subsequent information is held in its original form and on computer. The information is required to assist the company, employees, agents and sub-contractors to deliver the course and in maintaining the company’s high standards of delivery. By providing us with the information to process your booking you are agreeing that the information can be kept and accessed by authorised company personnel. Contact details will be used to advise you of future offers either by post or email. If you do not want to receive future mailing please advise us.
