Foraging in the Highlands

The abundance of the natural larder we have on our doorstep, constantly astounds us. Raspberries, strawberries, blaeberries (wild blueberries), cloudberries and many others grow in abundance across the countryside, if you know where to look.

Wild mushrooms abound - but do bear the mushroom pickers code in mind.

We are constantly amazed by the wealth of choice we have at our fingertips. Would you like to learn more about how our countryside can provide for us?

TOUR OPTIONS UNDER REVIEW. FULL LIST OF OPTIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE SOON.

Wild food foraging is nowhere near as popular in the Highlands as it is in Europe. Mushrooms and berries are in plentiful supply throughout the summer months – but our wild choices are not limited to only these options. We can also find wild herbs, seafood, etc all you need is someone to show you the ropes and make sure you are equipped with the right knowledge.

Foraging has always been more popular in Europe where they seem to have closer ties to the nature which surrounds them. It is quite common for restrictions to be introduced on mushroom foraging or else you have to be very secretive or protective about your picking areas in order to find any mushrooms and definitely not the abundance we can experience on our doorstep.

We have built up some knowledge of our local area; we’d love to share some of the special places and options with you.
